API

We have created a powerful API, allowing developers to use our work in future projects. We believe the future of Pathways will involve integration with additional platforms, including iOS and Android native apps. This API allows for straightforward development of those applications, as all the backend functionality exists in the backend we have created.

Access to the API is strictly controlled, and only developers with an access key will be able to retrieve information from the database. This access key is closely protected, and access to the API will be conditional upon extensive data security measures being in place.

Once access to the API has been granted and a developer has the secret key, they may request information on any patient via an API request.

The end point for this request is as follows:

/api/patient/idnumber

This request, if properly authenticated, will return the following details:

  • Patient name
  • Information module titles for every module currently assigned
  • Information module content for every module currently assigned, with formatting preserved
  • Patient state update times
The API has been built to standard JSON specifications. For additional details and for permission to building upon the Pathways API please contact Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS trust.
