Requirements

A clear breakdown of needs guiding FinSync’s development—crafted to align with Chanel Media’s workflow, security, and performance standards.

Partner Introduction & Project Background

Our collaboration with Chanel Media originated from a clearly identified need to modernize and streamline their existing financial reporting workflows. At the time, the Media team was dedicating nearly two weeks each month to the manual compilation of subcontractor data.

This labor-intensive process involved carefully matching budgets to invoiced expenses, calculating the total amount spent, and determining the remaining balances across multiple budget categories. Due to the high volume of data and the repetitive nature of these tasks, the process was not only time-consuming but also inherently susceptible to human error—jeopardizing both accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.

Recognizing the inefficiencies in this approach, our project set out to implement a technological solution that could automate and optimize these core operations. By reducing manual input, improving data integrity, and accelerating reporting timelines, our solution aims to empower the Chanel Media team with more accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights—ultimately supporting more strategic decision-making.

Project

Project Goals

The aim of this initiative is to significantly enhance the efficiency of financial reporting by automating the extraction, consolidation, and validation of expense data. By removing manual redundancies and minimizing human error during data compilation, the solution will streamline internal workflows, reduce reporting time, and improve overall accuracy. This will empower stakeholders to make timely, data-driven decisions supported by clean, well-structured financial insights.

Goals

Requirement Gathering

To gather requirements effectively, we conducted several structured interviews and interactive sessions with the Chanel Media team to pinpoint their specific needs and expectations. Additionally, we circulated a comprehensive Google Form survey among key stakeholders to capture detailed input on their daily challenges and expectations from the proposed solution. The insights gained from these surveys were instrumental in creating accurate user personas and tailoring the application to meet user-specific demands.

Requirements

Persona

The persona we developed through our requirement gathering process is Julie Banks, a Media Executive at Chanel. Julie represents the typical end-user who will benefit from the proposed system. Her persona encapsulates the needs and challenges faced by Chanel’s media team, emphasizing the necessity for streamlined operations to enable quick and accurate financial decision-making.
