Design Principles

Consistency
The familiarity that consistency fosters improves usability. As a result of users' experience with similar products, familiarity makes the interface simple to use and predictable. Like other chatbots, NHS Auto-chabot makes use of a simple web chat interface. For consistency, each icon and button has a round shape.

Simplicity
User interfaces ought to be elegant and straightforward. Classics remain in style forever. Users will be able to complete the task in the simplest manner possible without needless extra details thanks to such a user interface. When all of the features on your user interface are required, you cannot remove any of them, creating a simple user interface. A chat window, text bar, and send button are all elements of NHS Auto-chatbot's straightforward user interface that are essential to its operation.

User Centricity
The first UI design rule is to always keep the users in mind. A good user interface is simple and easy to use, doesn't cause the user any confusion, and fulfils their needs.

Feedback
Feedback may be audible (the "ding" of a new message alert), tactile (the "buzz" alert for a new email or phone call when your phone is set to "silent"), or visual. Feedback on each action should be provided to show whether it was successful or not. For instance, for every NHS Auto-chatbot process, there is always an alert dialogue box on the bottom-left to show to result (successful or unsuccessful).

Reduce Cognitive Load
Reduced cognitive load for users requires making the interface simple to use and not letting users think, which is one of the aspects UI designs should concentrate on. Since NHS Auto-chatbot uses a standard chat interface, most users are familiar with it and can send a message with just one click of the send button. As a result, reducing the steps and providing a comfortable interface lighten users' cognitive load.

Visual Structure
The user will feel more at ease using the interface thanks to a consistent visual design. NHS Auto-chatbot's visual structure is unified by its use of an NHS-blue colour scheme, rounded icons, and consistent navigation.
