Project Abstract

In the UK, there are around 7 million carers, with one in five carers giving up employment to care. These people are unpaid, spend almost all the time at home with the people they are caring for. Carer’s wellbeing begins to deteriorate as they neglect to connect with their friends, neglect their physical health, and the carer becomes someone in need of caring.

CarerCare app tracks the carer’s steps data, the frequency of phone calls and text messages sent through the app and generates a wellbeing score prediction every week. Carers can adjust this score to reflect their perceived wellbeing score in order to increase the accuracy of the prediction. When a carer hasn’t moved for a few days, hasn’t been physically active in the day, or hasn’t contacted a friend in a week, it reminds them to do so automatically. The carer has the option of sharing their wellbeing score.
