User feedback
Although the users felt comfortable with the prototype, we received feedback in different aspects of the prototype.
- First thing mentioned by users is the lack of title bars, which would indicate which part of the prototype user is currently at.
- Furthermore, the prototype has two pages at the main section, which are switched by a horizontal swiping gesture, however it is not so obvious to users, as there is no indication of the current state of the app.
- Another issue mentioned by the test users is that the history button at the second main page contains dates icons that have no separate functionality from the button itself, thus it causes confusion to users, whether they have done something wrong or is intended to be this way.
- The last thing mentioned is assigning symptom level in Symptom Check section. The widget, that changes the level of picked symptom, was chosen to be a slider, which is common for both platforms, however it has been noted that this widget might not be suitable for patients with MS, because common symptoms, such as tremors and shaking hands, may cause difficulties in using sliders.
Improvements
- Replace initial scrolling view with a navigation view with tabs.
- Remove calendar icons, replace them with an icon of calendar and reshape the button, so that it has the same size as Symptom Check and Side Effect Check buttons.
- Replace the small scale slider with a bigger and more accessible component, a full screen number picker.
- Enable VoiceOver technology (gives auditory descriptions) on the iOS platform for visually impaired patients. And find a similar alternative for Android devices.
