This was the last week of the term and hence our project. We spent majority of the week preparing our portfolio and final technical presentation for submission on Friday. However, we did have one last presentation to do on Tuesday.
Tuesday
We had an important presentation with IBM, Intel and Microsoft officials to present our work with the possible applications of it. We presented the street fighter standing mode with gestures and sitting mode with Spider Man. We were asked questions on the possibilities and applications of our software as well as some issued that may arise from the implementation. We managed to gain a lot of important feedback which we could use in our evaluation.
Later that day we devised how we were going to tackle the eight-minute technical presentation and divided the roles. Most parts were filmed by Wednesday and the video was done by Friday morning. We would then later find out that we would have a deadline extension for the following week which gave us some breathing space to tie up any loose ends.
Friday
We were informed by Professor Dean Mohamedally that our non-technical presentation was to be redone, mainly due to us focussing on the wrong things but also because that video was to be shown to Jim Ryan, the current CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Therefore, over the weekend we focussed on finishing that.
Farewell for Now
This will be out final blog posts; our progress has been accurately recorded in this blog section since near the beginning of the project. It has been a tough project but a highly rewarding one and we hope that our work with it has not come to an end. There is mention of future work with Sony and Capcom as well as other work with MotionInput.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped us on this project throughout the year including but not limited to Professor Dean Mohamedally, Anelia Gaydardzhieva, Mohseen Hussain, the rest of the UCL Computer Science department that helped us as well as the other MotionInput teams of whom we collaborated with extensively. We hope that our work has helped to further the development of UCL MotionInput as hope to see the effects of our work soon.
