Team 26 Progress Report
Tuesday
On Tuesday, in our weekly meeting we were made aware of the details concerning a live demo presentation in front of many important clients at Sony, including the ex-CEO of Sony Europe and current Accessibility Lead of PlayStation Studios, Mark Friend. This would take place on the following Tuesday (17/01/23).
We were tasked with preparing a demonstration of MotionInput working with the games we had available (Spider Man and Minecraft) at the time. We decided that Taha would lead the demonstration when the time comes. The rest of the session included discussing the logistics of the demo with discussion on the hardware that would be required. We also talked about the elevator pitch which was also coming up on the following Friday (20/01/23).
Thursday
On Thursday, WeiYi was informed by Professor Dean that our team had a couple more games to demonstrate: Horizon Zero Dawn and Metal Gear Solid V which would have to be integrated into MotionInput from scratch. WeiYi, with help with Chris Zhang took lead to integrate this over the weekend to a point that it could be demonstrated.
Friday
On Friday, Professor Dean and Anelia Gaydardzhieva ran a meeting discussing the proceedings and details behind the demonstration on the following Tuesday including the story and aim of all the projects. There were categories for aims of the projects. We decided that our project cam under the Child Play, Simulations and Action & Adventure categories. It was also made known that now there are many important clients coming from Microsoft, IBM and Intel as well as some school children to see the work.
Following the meeting, WeiYi and Taha met up in the lab to do some testing. It came to our attention that we’d need to get better equipment as the performance of the MotionInput build was quite poor when playing Spider Man with the borrowed laptop from Architect Mohseen Hussain. Additionally, we found a significant bug with the movement in the spider man build. WeiYi managed to fix the bug over the weekend. Finally we came to the decision to only focus on Horizon Zero Dawn since it’s a Sony title and would be more appropriate to show to the Sony clients.
Weekend
Over the weekend work was done to finish the implementation of the Horizon Zero Dawn MotionInput build. We also worked a lot on the presentation for the Elevator Pitch for the following Friday. We intended to meet on the Monday of next week to do some planning and testing.
